Thanks for the updated map! Helps a lot. For the tray for buy chip, perhaps something similar to the bins at Cash In, but smaller because it only needs to hold one ball? And maybe have it slightly funnel shaped so it will always run into the middle of the bin? Just a thought - not sure how practical.

The dispenser being on left vs right doesn't matter all that much to us Would it be possible to always have the push plate face the pinger?

    Thanks!

Since the border cannot be seen is it possible to have a yellow base instead as we would like to differentiate the base from the white patches on the ground in transdec

You're welcome, sorry for the delay (too much Overwatch, not enough RoboSub). _I_ still think having the ball trapped within a 2" box would be better for retrieval, but I'm open to suggestions. The funnel isn't a bad idea, but it would have to be very shallow, so that it doesn't interfere with your vehicle/grabber, and could be a bit difficult to make.

Let me try to put something together in the near future and see what it looks like.

I'm happy to make the push plate always face the pinger. That may mean that the push plate will be facing "backward" depending on the position of the pinger and the Buy a Gold Chip task. Which means you may not see it when you approach.

Are you (and "everyone" else) ok with that...?

        bumblebee
You guys and yellow! When you aren't directly over the bin, you should be able to see some red/green around the border. But, I will also make the base yellow.

          Hello,

bumblebee , Daveman Do you mean the stand when you're talking about the base or the base of the bin itself?

SONIA would have another solution that we feel would suit best for this task. The whole bins could be colored green and red.

Also, following all the changes being made, could it be possible to have an official document stating the latter.

          Thank you!

We like the gold chip push plate facing the pinger
Also, can we get a final drawing of the buy gold chip?

Hello, we are having trouble finding "International Orange" paint... will "Safety Orange" work?

                Hi Daveman

Can you clarify which tasks must be completed for the two random pinger points to count?

Does torpedo counted as part of the random pinger points?

And are the torpedo board and the cash in bins secured with giant weights so that they don't topple by accident?

For Shoot Craps, what if we hit buoys in the order of A, B, B. Would the last two touched be considered A and B or just B B?

                    Hi Daveman

Can you increased the area of the shoot craps by 20% on each dimension? We have finding it hard to not accidentally hit other dices while aiming at our target.

The message at the top of the forum says there are bonus points for pre-qualifying. We have seen no indication of this until yesterday so we were planning on just qualifying at the competition. IF this is accurate how many points are we talking?

                        Hi bumblebee ,

If we may answer your question, the two random pingers will be used in the "play roulette" and "cash in" tasks as shown in the pictures attached. Screenshot from the Mission and Scoring Document.

                          Hey Daveman ,

For the Find Casino task, it says:

From behind the front of the starting dock, a team is allowed to point their vehicle in any direction. For additional points, teams may elect a random coin flip which will determine the heading of their vehicle for the start.
Does this mean we will be allowed to point our sub in some direction to initialize it (i.e. fix the global coordinate axis so it knows which way is "forward') before we do the random coin flip? Or will the sub be immediately placed in the random orientation?

It would definitely make the random-start task more feasible if we were allowed to initialize before hand (i.e. with the sub in the water, either initializing through an enternet connection, or perhaps by pressing a button on the sub or something of the like). That helps prevent lots of silly mistakes later on, such as travelling in a completely wrong direction along the paths.

                          For Random Pinger,

Building off of @bumblebee's question, can we use surfacing within the Area to satisfy the random pinger requirement? That way, teams that are able to correctly identify their surroundings and which task they are after finding the pinger will be rewarded with points, even if they can't complete the Cash In task. If I recall correctly we could do so last year, and I definitely hope that we can this year.

                          Finally, for the Pre-qualification,

Do the colors matter for the gate? Since this seems to mostly be a test of maneuverability, we were at least going to try and do it without using computer vision. If necessary, we can duct tape up an old gate to be the right color, but that's a lot of duct tape to waste if we're never actually going to use the fact that it's orange.

See y'all at the TRANSDEC soon!

Club Etudiant SONIA Haha thanks! But I guess I didn't really phrase my question well -_-" Was trying to ask what Caltech Robotics Team asked, specifically which actions must the auv complete at both roulette and cash-in for the random pinger points to count.

The way we interpreted Find Casino was if you wanted to "initialize" your vehicle's heading, you would have to do it during your dock time. Once you start your mission run or run out of dock time, your vehicle will be placed in the random configuration and has to find the gate from there.

                              Daveman

Can we also get a confirmation on whether or not we can use the red and green balls at Roulette? There is something very impressive with being able to track two pingers and having to string together so many things - such as picking up balls from Cash In (but leaving enough to complete Cash IN) and taking them over to Roulette.
Also, no limit on how many balls we can get the surfacing points for, correct? We've already put a limit on how many balls per funnel (sad) and it is quite impressive to be able to pick up so many tiny balls.

See attached for what we are talking about. Maybe it's just me, but finding a green golf ball on a green background seems hard (and similarly hard for red on red).

Push plate facing the pinger, check.

Buy gold chips: What you don't like what I've all ready posted? I can get you the dimensions of the PVC structure (and the height of the push plate from the floor), but I haven't gotten to the tray yet. And since there are two different people working on it in two different places, it will probably be an iterative process which might not get completed until the beginning of the competition (Sorry). They will be close to my "sketches"

Shoot craps: The last two you touch, no matter what. So in your example (A B B), the last two would be B B.

Is this for the pre-qualification? Don't worry about color, and see the thread on that topic.

Do you plan on ramming into my tasks...? Yes, everything will be held down with weights. During the practice days, if we observe we need more, we can add to the weight.

Shoot Craps: I'll think about it. Let me look over the dimensions.

I don't believe there was ever a message about bonus points for pre-qualifying. In any event, there are no bonus points associated with pre-qualifying. Also check the thread on the topic.
