  • Closest distance to target allowed

    Hello,

What is the closest distance allowed for the launcher to be from the target?

Is there a minimum distance allowed or a range that we must be within when shooting?

    Thank you!

Saw a video from 2016 RobotX Hawaii. Will the target from this year also be similar to this model?

      Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your questions. Below you will find our responses based on the most recent decisions. However, please remember the specs are subject to change given that some task elements are still in development.

As you can see in this image, the target base sits centrally on the floating dock. Therefore, the vertical target panel will be approximately 1m from the edge of the floating dock.

The lower edge of the square target openings is approximately 1.5m above the water line. The two openings are approximately 10cm apart.

Compared to previous RobotX challenges, there are slight differences in how the 2022 tasks are being built. As described above, the two openings are positioned slightly differently, the shapes are all squares of different colors, and the floating dock is being provided by a different vendor. While it’s helpful to look back at what was done in 2016 and 2018, please be sure to look to the 2022 Handbook for the correct information for this year’s challenge.

Again, remember that the specs are subject to change once the tasks are deployed in the water.
