  • Beta Release of RobotX Simulation

NPS and OSRF are happy to announce that we are doing an early beta release of the Gazebo/ROS RobotX simulation environment. We are still working on many parts of this (and welcome any contributions!), but the current simulation includes...
    • Visual and collision models of the base WAM-V platform
    • Gazebo plugins to simulate simple hydrodynamics, waves, wind and propulsion
    • A world definition roughly similar to the coastline at Sand Island, HI (the RobotX 2018 venue).

All of the code is of course open source. The source, along with documentation and tutorials is available at

This is an open source project, so we welcome the feedback and contributions from the community - submit a pull request today!

    Hey Brian and RobotX community,

Our RobotX team is has a Holonomic Drive for our WAM-V and was wondering if this simulation supports a holonomic configuration? I noticed when launching the sand island world and the teleop keyboard package to control it that there was a description to control the boat in a Holonomic matter (by holding the shift key) but I couldn't get it to work as such. Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated!
